As Nigerians gear up for the festive season, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has stepped in to provide financial relief by reducing the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N899.50 per liter.
The announcement, made on Thursday, December 19, 2024, by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Refinery, underscores the company’s commitment to offering affordable and accessible fuel to Nigerians.
A Welcome Reduction for the Holiday Season
The latest price adjustment follows an earlier reduction to N970 per liter on November 24. With the current reduction, Dangote Refinery aims to ease the financial burden on consumers during a period marked by increased travel and logistics costs.
Chiejina explained the motivation behind the move:
“This price reduction reflects our dedication to supporting Nigerians by making transportation more affordable, especially during the festive season when expenses are typically higher.”
Special Holiday Credit Scheme
In addition to the price cut, Dangote Refinery has introduced an innovative credit scheme to further support customers. Under the scheme, for every liter of fuel purchased with cash, customers can buy an additional liter on credit.
This initiative is backed by major Nigerian banks, including Access Bank, First Bank, and Zenith Bank, ensuring financial flexibility for consumers. Chiejina highlighted the scheme as part of the company’s efforts to alleviate holiday expenses while promoting financial inclusion.
Commitment to Quality and Self-Sufficiency
Beyond price reductions, Dangote Refinery remains committed to delivering premium, environmentally-friendly, and engine-safe fuel. The refinery’s state-of-the-art facilities are designed to meet Nigeria’s entire refined petroleum needs, with surplus production set for export.
As the world’s largest single-train refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, Dangote Refinery is playing a pivotal role in reshaping Nigeria’s petroleum industry. By reducing reliance on substandard imported fuels, it is ensuring that Nigerians have access to high-quality products at competitive prices.
Chiejina emphasized the broader impact of the refinery’s operations:
“This initiative not only eases the immediate financial strain on Nigerians but also solidifies our commitment to ensuring fuel quality and availability nationwide.”
A Festive Season Boost
As Nigerians prepare for the holiday season, Dangote Refinery’s price reduction and credit scheme offer timely relief. With the new pricing structure and added benefits, consumers can look forward to a more affordable and flexible approach to managing transportation costs.
