On Boxing Day, the two-term former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, and his wife, Maryann, added a special touch to the marriage ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Gafata. The ceremony took place at the Saint Philip-Neri Catholic Church in Jattu-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
As sponsors of the church wedding, the couple played an active role in the Mass and the subsequent reception, both held within the church premises. Their presence not only added a sense of joy and dignity to the occasion but also reflected their unwavering support for the newlyweds. Their generosity was evident in the smiles of the couple and their families, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
However, their involvement didn’t end there. After the Mass, the Shaibus also attended the Okwuobomwe Age Group ceremony at Afashio-Uzairue, further demonstrating their strong connection to their community and their commitment to celebrating its traditions. This thoughtful gesture highlighted their deep ties to the people of Edo State.
Throughout his tenure as Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has remained devoted to the welfare of the people, particularly in his constituency. His actions consistently reflect his belief that leadership is not just about holding an office, but about positively impacting the lives of those in the community. His continued efforts to support and engage with his people are an inspiration to many.

Equally commendable is Mrs. Maryann Philip-Shaibu’s selfless act of empowering women from Edo North. Her initiatives have left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, as she tirelessly works to improve the lives of women in the region. Whether through educational programs, skill-building workshops, or providing mentorship, Maryann has been a beacon of hope for countless women striving for a better future.
Together, the Shaibus exemplify leadership that extends beyond politics, showing that true service lies in making a tangible difference in the lives of others. As they continue to reach out and uplift their community, may their efforts be met with even greater success and fulfillment, knowing they are touching lives and creating lasting change.
