Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt wishes to address the public, football stakeholders, and media regarding the contractual status of our player, Andy Okpe.
We want to clarify that Andy Okpe remains a registered player of Rivers United FC and is under a valid contract with the club until 2027. Despite his unapproved absence and current unknown whereabouts, Andy Okpe’s contractual obligations to Rivers United FC remain binding and enforceable.
The club has not granted any release or authorization regarding the player’s transfer or engagement with any other club or agent. Any claims suggesting otherwise are completely unfounded and should be disregarded.
In this regard, Rivers United FC strongly warns all football clubs, agents, and intermediaries to refrain from engaging in any discussions, negotiations, or transactions involving Andy Okpe without the club’s express consent and authorization. Any breach of this directive will attract severe consequences, including potential legal action and sanctions under FIFA regulations.
We have also formally notified the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of the player’s contractual status. The NFF is urged to ensure that any future transfer or registration involving Andy Okpe complies with all applicable regulations and receives prior approval from Rivers United FC.
